What they say:
A new basement wine shop and restaurant is opening up in Highbury; Linden Stores is the latest venture for Laura Christie (half of Turkish restaurant Oklava) and Chris Boustead (part of Boustead & Bidois). All bottles of wine are chosen by Christie and will aim to be affordable, with options to drink in the restaurant or take home with you. The menu is British inspired, with small plates such as a cheese board, potted rabbit with clementine jelly, and smoked beef stew with thyme dumplings.
What we say:
Prawn on the Lawn has moved to a new venue and left space for this neighbourhood-style hangout from two London foodies. Linden Stores looks like it will be all sorts of cosy with stripped back, exposed brick walls, and a blackboard listing the seasonal specials. The space aims to keep things simple and low-key with an option to 'try before you buy' when it comes to wine, and plates that can act as either dinner or something to nibble on over a few drinks.
