Run from the warehouse of Gergovie Wines, 40 Maltby Street's specialty is their French, Italian and Slovenian wine. You can stay at the bar and enjoy a glass with friends and chat the knowledgeable bar staff or buy a bottle to take away and enjoy at home.
The menu offers small plates that aren't the over fussy canapes you might expect. Instead they work to excite the tastebuds combining complementary flavours at pleasant prices. The choices change weekly, ensuring that there's always something new to try if you become a regular.
Their opening times are focused mainly on end of week dinners, although they are open for lunch on Friday and Saturday (note the Friday business hours: 12:30-14:00 and 17:30-22:00). They don't take reservations so arrive early to avoid waiting for a table. The staff are passionate, the wine is wonderful and the food is fantastic.
