After sadly having to close after just one service due to lockdown, KOL Mezcaleria has resurfaced as a casual basement bar that echoes traditional haunts in Mexico. Armed with a combination of Latin American-inspired mixology and street food-style antojitos, the all-new Marylebone bar is looking like an essential visit for mezcal sipping.
With the help of the Shulte (The American Bar’s former Head Bartender), award-winning chef Santiago has opened up a new tasting experience in the basement of his acclaimed restaurant, KOL. As a homage to Santiago’s heritage, the duo have curated an extensive menu of classic cocktails (with a twist, of course) and over 80 varieties of mezcal, sourced from independent Mexican distilleries. Stand out mixes include the sloe and grape mezcal negroni – but if that's not your kind of thing, there's also an alternate range of premium spirits, lagers, ales and wines.
As for food? Tuck into a menu of tempting small plates that reinvent Mexican delicacies with wild, British ingredients. Proving you can have the best of both worlds is the traditional quesadilla; turned it on its head with the use of Kentish Oaxaca cheese and fresh Wiltshire truffles, it sounds bold, it sounds brilliant... and we need one.
