Neatly situated underneath North Audley Cantine - just off Bond Street - Chez Chow is the newest addition to central London's flourishing cocktail scene.
The Venue:
Taking its name from the owner's fluffy pooch Teddy, Chez Chow certainly doesn't lack in character and charm. Unfortunately he wasn't there for a belly rub upon my visit, but I have it on good authority that he's often seen mingling with guests! Interiors create a speakeasy feel by fusing a Bohemian Victorian Parlour vibe and the Oriental Express, and there's plenty of references to the venue's namesake; featuring antique Chinese dog ornaments and portraits of the famous Teddy himself. Adorned with bamboo plants and a mish mash of velvet seating; Chez Chow simply oozes with effortless elegance.
Food and Drink:
Expect fresh and exciting concepts at Chez Chow. This is certainly not your standard cocktail bar snack menu, with the Asian fusion theme continuing to offer culinary treats such as popcorn shrimp, stone bass served in baby gem lettuce and sticky pork ribs. Don't leave without sampling the popcorn infused bourbon cocktail too; sweetened with a touch of agave syrup, this luscious mix is certainly not for the faint hearted!
Atmosphere and Clientele:
A far cry from your typical Mayfair venue, Chez Chow boasts a relaxed vibe that offers something a little special. This is an intimate basement space with low lighting and a quirky gramophone speaker playing smooth contemporary classics. With a mix of suited and booted folk and modern boho types, Chez Chow is the perfect spot to unwind after a long day.
Summary:
Whether its a couple of midweek drinks or whetting your whistle after a long day of big spending on Bond Street; Chez Chow is certainly not one to miss!
