Tucked away under Bombay Bustle on Mayfair’s Maddox Street, The Retiring Room is a new underground bar concept inspired by the faded glamour of India's railway retiring rooms, places where weary travelers can rest their heads for the evening.

The bar will serve a handpicked selection of cocktails, ranging from classics with a Retiring Room twist, to new signature creations. Examples include the Paan Collins, made with sloe gin, St. Germain, paan (betel leaf) liqueur, and homemade plum syrup, alongside the Pearl of Bombay, with Russian Standard vodka, passion fruit chutney, passion fruit juice, and a garnish of edible pearls. For those feeling a little dark? The all-black Incognito, with Gosling black rum, pineapple juice, ginger beer, and activated charcoal.

The Retiring Room will replicate those dotted along the railway lines of India with dark, leather-clad booths, timber panels and decorative iron light fittings. These will be balanced with blushed pink and bottle green accent and large glass screens to create a welcoming setting for cocktail sipping and canape crunching. The menu of these small plates includes bite-sized aloo tuk, crispy Bombay fried chicken, and aromatic curry patta prawns.
