Merchant's Tavern

Description

Set in the incredibly iconic surroundings of a Victorian apothecary, Merchant's Tavern replaced one of Shoreditch's first popular restaurants, Cantaloupe. However, with the growing trend of the area it was only really a matter of time before star chefs such as Angela Hartnett moved in to capitalise on its rich history and the ever more discerning taste of its clientele.

Merchant's Tavern is aptly named owing to its thick oak beams and dim lit cosy feel, however the food is anything but traditional to what you might expect from a tavern. Earthy European classics come to the fore with an undeniable modern twist in Merchant Tavern's kitchen; the menu is designed around the best ingredients to match the season, served with the love and care you'd expect from a Michelin starred chef. With such delectable lunch-time offerings as braised pigs cheek with creamed potatoes & chicory you can be sure to have a finely crafted meal here.

The bar at Merchant's Tavern is well stocked with delightful options for beers and wines while the cocktail list offers its own sense of discovery - including the hangover curing Prarie Oyster. This makes a perfect environment for those wishing to relax in the pleasant surroundings with a drink or two.
