Downstairs in the basement of Wahaca's bustling Soho branch lies the Azulito bar. Azulito’s décor is bright with an eclectic mix of furniture, low lighting, a couple of foosball tables and exposed brickwork which all work together keep the vibe lively, upbeat and friendly whilst maintaining a little of Soho’s edge. The tan-leather recliners are the comfiest seats in the place, but we of course have a magnetic attraction to the swinging basket chairs. Thursday, Friday and Saturday nights host a live DJ until midnight, spinning a mix of classic and contemporary tunes which keeps the atmosphere up without drowning out conversation.
Prime location on Wardour Street makes this an excellent venue for full bar or area hire, for both private parties and corporate events for groups of 10, up to 120 guests. Private parties or group bookings can pre-order a canapé street food menu to be catered downstairs in the bar, which is a bite-size variety of the restaurant's tastiest street food dishes.
Equipped with a full size projector and plenty of seats, it's also a laid-back alternative to stuffy conference rooms for use for presentations, meetings and screenings. Throw in a taco or two, some table football breaks and a margarita, and perhaps that offsite meeting next month doesn't seem so bad.
Azulito translates from Spanish as ‘little blue’; a nod to the blue agave plant from which all tequila is distilled. And if you like to talk tequila, this is the place to be, with over 55 different kinds behind the bar - all made from 100% agave. Fruity margaritas and tasty twists on some classic cocktails make for a tempting drinks selection. The bar also is well stocked with cold beers and wine, and ordering a michelada gives a refreshing Mexican makeover to your Corona or Pacifico.
