Launched in 1998, Tiger Tiger is still one of the top spots on the London party scene. Promising to supply 'The Ultimate Party Experience', I went to find out what keeps this place going strong and what this 'experience' was exactly.
The Venue
A short walk from Piccadilly Circus, this is Novus Leisure's largest Tiger Tiger, boasting six rooms spanning over four floors. With an evening's entertainment all under one roof, you can start with dinner in the Tiger Grill, then move on to drinks in the Tiger Bar before exploring the Ibiza-inspired club rooms or the seventies-themed Groovy Wonderland for a boogie on the light-up dancefloor.
The decor is sleek with some funky touches, each room with its own theme and vibe. The restaurant provides a range of seating options from tables for two to long high tables and booths.
The Atmosphere and Clientele
Even as we sat down to eat at 7pm, the background music comprised mainly of dance hits and party anthems. Although there were a few small tables, this place is perfect for groups and on a Saturday night expect your fair share of hen dos and birthday parties. With boys in shirts and shoes, and girls donning short skirts and heels, this is one of the few places left where you can get dressed up for a Saturday night on the town, get your flirt on and throw some shapes on the dancefloor.
The Food and Drinks
The Tiger Grill restaurant offers a range of American-inspired favourites like ribs, burgers, tacos and some good sharing options. We went for the crab cakes and calamari to start, followed by the buttermilk chicken and the chilli glazed salmon. The food came out swiftly and was everything it promised to be: tasty and light enough to start off the evening.
The cocktail menu has all the classics - mojitos, caipirinhas and the always popular Porn Star Martini. We ordered a couple of Margaritas to get the party started followed by a bottle of Pinot Grigio to accompany dinner. The service was excellent, ensuring our glasses were topped up, adding to the fun and friendly atmosphere. Later, we tried a Mai Blue Tai cocktail while we explored the other rooms, which were in full swing by 10pm.
Summary
The vibe at Tiger Tiger is fun and unpretentious so if you are out for a giggle, it won't disappoint. If the 'Ultimate Party Experience' is a night out under one roof, then with VIP areas and bars to suit any mood, Tiger Tiger delivers. Get the glad rags out and let your hair down a little - this is a slice of London's night life that every party girl or boy should experience.
