Bringing some serious whisky chops to Charing Cross, Double Barrel is the pop up that every bourbon and rye buff has been waiting for. Taking over the upstairs of The Theodore Bullfrog, this curated drinks experience sees the Prohibition-era speakeasy mixing with the Wild West saloon bar with its laid-back, low-lit interiors, clad in timber and furnished with reclaimed barrels and candlelit tables.
The drinks menu will be taking centre stage, and with Chris Edwards of Herne Hill's First Aid Box and the recently opened Alphabet at the helm, you can rest assured they're something special. Putting some quirky spins on those old favourites, guests to the pop-up can sip on contemporary takes on the Old Fashioned - featuring orange, BBQ smoke and jerky - the Guinness Flip and a biting Sazerac that includes actual fire.
And to soak up all the screech there'll be a hearty selection of whisky-soused bar snacks to munch on, so you can look forward to Talisker-cured salmon, Bulleit and coke chicken wings and duck spring rolls served with a Johnnie Walker fig & plum jam.
Open from 6pm-11pm every Wednesday to Saturday, it's the perfect spot for some post-work drinks with a bit of difference. And if you're planning a bigger get-together, the venue is also available for private for parties of up to 120.
Double Barrel runs from the 7th of November to Spring 2019. It will be open from Wednesday-Saturday, 6pm-11pm at The Theodore Bullfrog, 6-30 John Adam Street WC2N 6HL.
