Let’s be real here. Us Brits? We love bread. From the decadent baskets before a meal out to the humble piece of toast, we always want a (heavily buttered) slice of the action. And Asda seems to have heard our hungry call, as they’re launching a fine dining pop-up in Aldgate, serving 13 stunning courses of – wait for it – bread. Introducing, Baker's Dozen.
Over the course of the evening, which takes place at Amber Restaurant on the 19th of October, you’ll be treated to a range of beautifully baked bites. Think a moreish dark spelt and rye sourdough slathered in chicken fat whipped butter, as well as a lip-smacking brown bread ice cream. All the while, their resident ‘doughmellier’ will be at hand to guide you through the origins and tasting notes of each dish. And to top it off? You’ll have perfectly paired wines to wash it down.
Though you won't have to cough up any dough as it's completely free, if you want to visit, you'll need to enter their online ballot for a chance to win a spot. You'll be able to bring a plus one, of course, so you can treat your other half to a date night to end all date nights.
Come on guys, it's a no-grainer.
