We all hate getting on trains in London, it’s just a fact of life – even the people taking pictures of the things don’t get on them. But what is the one thing that can convince any British person to get on the dreaded carriages? Gin. Lots of gin. So welcome aboard Bombay Sapphire’s gin train in Banking Hall, where you’ll go on a juniper-based immersive drinking and dining experience through the wonders of gin.
The Grand Journey transports guests on a sensory expedition designed to celebrate the 10 hand-selected botanicals from around the world that goes into Bombay Sapphire. But the stationary carriage relies on food, drink and even a bit of virtual reality to whisk you away to everywhere from Ghana to India itself. They’ve been keeping details a bit schtum as to not spoilt the surprise, but Michelin-starred chef Tom Sellers is cooking up some gin-inspired food, such as a juniper amuse bouche, while the drinks range from a 'botanical vapour' (it's in East London, guys) to an eye-brow raising coriander cocktail. All for just £30 – and considering Britain spent £1million a day on gin last year, that seems a bit like pocket change.
The Grand Journey is taking place between the 17th and 23rd July at the Banking Hall in Bank, with tickets costing £30.
