She smokes like a chimney and drinks like a fish, but she’s perfect – just the way she is. Yes, we’re talking about our favourite blonde bachelorette, Bridget Jones. She was first conjured up in 1995 by Helen Fielding in The Independent, as a column depicting the life of a single woman living in London in the 1990s. Not long after, in 1996, the column turned into novel, and then novel into movie.
The first film, Bridget Jones's Diary, starring Renée Zellwegger, was released in 2001, shortly followed by the sequel, The Edge of Reason in 2004 (but let's be honest, this was nowhere near as good as the first). Over a decade later, we were then brought Bridget Jones's Baby - a warm, funny comeback that became an instant classic. And this year in 2025? There will be a fourth movie: Mad About The Boy, and we just can't wait.
In celebration of the new movie, we've found all of the most iconic Bridget Jones Filming Locations in London and beyond, from her fabulous Borough Market flat to her fancy mini-break with Cleaver and more.
Bridget Jones’s Diary Film Locations
Bridget Jones’s Flat: Borough Market, London
Here iconic flat - which saw our heroine through Chaka Khan-led breakdowns, shagfests and that stomach-churning blue string soup - can be found right next to Borough Market, above much-loved pub The Globe Tavern. However, these days you'll find less absolutely enormous knickers here and more delicious BBQ lemongrass sea bass, as Thai restaurant Khao Bird has now taken up permanent residency.
You can visit the Bridget Jones flat location if you head to Khao Bird.
Bridget Jones’s Parent’s House Location: Snowshill, Gloucestershire
Ah - where it all began. Bridget Jones's parent's house was the first place Bridget and Mark laid eyes on each other (after Bridge ran around naked on his lawn, of course), over a delightful Christmas turkey buffet. And although Mr Arsey Darcy rudely called her a "verbally incontinent spinster" and other nasty things, this just spurred on her journey for self-improvement. The village of Snowshill was used for shots of the Jones's hometown, and their house was that of local residents John and Jill Hooper. As you can imagine, it was very exciting indeed having a film crew in this usually quaint and quiet town.
The Mini-Break Filming Location: Stoke Park Hotel, Buckinghamshire
Nothing says true love like a mini-break, eh Bridget? As our leading lady and the notorious Daniel Cleaver get closer, they head on a little trip away – the famous location where not only Daniel fell ciggie-first into the lake (after a rather crass rendition about a young woman from Ealing), but Jones admit she loves him - before, of course, finding him at home with another woman. They filmed these scenes at Stoke Park hotel in Buckinghamshire, in the Pennsylvania Suite, which features a grand four-poster bed, golden chandelier, velvet sofa and sweeping views across the grounds from the windows.
This isn't the only movie filmed here - you'll also spy this in James Bond's Goldfinger.
Where Bridget Interviews Mark: Royal Courts of Justice, London
We can’t forget the famous moment when Bridget, while trying to buy a pack of cigarettes, miraculously bumps into Mark Darcy, right outside the Royal Courts of Justice. She’s covering the story of a hot-topic freedom fighter, Kafir Aghani, and, coincidentally, they’re a client of Mark’s. She then interviews the two, very successfully we might add, which brings her success in both love and career (for the time-being, at least).
Bridget Jones: The Edge of Reason Filming Locations
Opening Scene: Primrose Hill, London
After seeing Mark and Bridge wearing hideous, matching Christmas jumpers at Jones's parents', the scene fades out to the two galloping into each other's arms across Primrose Hill while our heroine hums along to The Sound of Music - don't be fooled though, this isn't a film about the von Trapp family; this is in fact the beginning of the Bridget Jones sequel.
Grab a picnic and feel like Bridget and Mark atop Primrose Hill.
The Break Up Spot: The Light Bar, London
Despite the movie starts rosy, Bridget then suspects that Mark is having an affair with his colleague Rebecca – not only that, but she feels they are worlds apart and that she is embarrassing him in front of his stiff colleagues. She discusses all of this with her best friends at The Light Bar in Shoreditch, with cigarettes and glasses of chardonnay in tow, where the gang tell her resoundingly to dump the man.
Bridget Jones’s Baby Filming Locations
The Festival: Somerset
Though it was given the feel of Glastonbury, with the famous muddy fields, big acts like Ed Sheeran and humungous crowds (and some of it was even filmed in the same fields as the iconic festival), the name of the festival Bridget Jones visits in the third movie is never mentioned, but we can make an educated guess. Alongside shots from the Somerset fields, some scenes were taken from an actual Ed Sheeran concert in Dublin’s Croke Park.
Bridget Jones: Mad About The Boy Filming Locations
Various Scenes: Hampstead
The picturesque area of Hampstead features heavily in Mad About The Boy, from the exterior of Christ Church Primary School being used as Billy and Mabel’s school to the charming Flask walk, where Bridget buys Mabel a hot chocolate. Local pub The Flask also makes and appearance, transformed by the production team into a Christmas spectacle.
Another wintry scene, which was actually filmed in July, takes place at Sayeh & Galton Flowers on Flask Walk, but the interiors were actually shot at The Old Queens Head in Islington - a lively neighbourhood pub that dates back to the 17th century.
