'Well I wish it could be Christmas every day' so sang Wizzard and I could not agree more. From constant carols to the 'ho ho ho, Merry Christmas' of the Tesco self-checkout, it truly is the season to be merry. Sadly for us all, it is not Christmas every day and trying to fit all that festive joy into 25 short days can be a challenge for even the most enthusiastic. Fortunately alcoholic sweet company Smith & Sinclair have come to answer our prayers by combining Christmas food with alcohol - a Nobel-prize winning idea if I ever heard one.
The company have teamed up with different spirits to create four cocktails that are good enough to rival any mulled-wine addiction. The Mince Pie Freakshake is comprised of Captain Morgan's Rum, ice cream and mince pies; Johnnie Walker Wrapped in a Blanket is accompanied by bacon washed whisky and a bacon rasher, while the Bloody Mary has a stuffing rim and turkey crisp. But pulling it out of Santa's sack has got to be the Sprouting Gordon's Gin Fizz - a gin and prosseco mixture that's topped with caramelised Brussels sprouts.
The cocktails will be served at M Restaurant at Threadneedle Street until the end of December.
