Best Cat Cafes In London

The first ever cat cafe was opened in Taiwan in 1998, and the concept quickly spread to Japan, who popularised the idea. Since then, this adorable craze has taken over the UK, with most cities having somewhere to sip coffee with feline friends.

Our capital is no exception, and there are a number of amazing spots to check out. Whether you're looking for an adorable afternoon tea, to adopt a new pet or just want to chill with some kittens, we've rounded up the very best cafes with cats in London.

Best London Cat Cafes

Java Whiskers

With venues in both Marylebone and Shepherd's Bush, Java Whiskers is one of the city's cutest days out. It's the only place in Europe to have a dedicated kitten lounge, as well as a room for the older cats, and you can book a 55-minute slot with them from £16.99. These are rescue animals that are all up for adoption, so if you fall in love with one you might even be able to take it home.

They serve afternoon tea for £54.50 per person, which includes entry to the cat lounge. Though if you fancy something a little lighter, there are a whole range of affordable drinks and their sandwiches start from just £3.50.

Whiskers & Cream

You'll find Whiskers & Cream right outside Archway station, housing 10 gorgeous rescue cats. You can hang out with this adorable lot for 90 minutes at a time, playing or cuddling while enjoying luxury eats. They serve delicious afternoon tea, alongside affordable treats such as sourdough sandwiches, bagels and pastries - and they're even licensed to sell alcohol from 12pm.

They're committed to sustainability here, using high quality produce that's locally sourced where possible. Admission and a drink costs £18, or £15 for under 11s. And if you're looking for a cat cafe in London that's kid-friendly? You can bring young children if you reserve a spot over the phone or in person.

Lady Dinah's Cat Emporium

London's first ever cat cafe, which has now been around for over 10 years, Lady Dinah's Cat Emporium is situated in Bethnal Green. They temporarily home felines of all ages, all adoptable, and they've rehoused more than 80 pets since they opened.

You can book 60 or 90-minute sessions, starting from £13 per head, though they sometimes hold 'pay what you can' Tuesdays if you're after a cheap cat cafe in London. Topping it all off? Their menu features everything from fruit scones to 12-inch pizzas (with plenty of vegan options available), alongside hot drinks or cocktails.
