Already known for serving some of Essex Road's finest tipples, cocktail bar Homeboy are bringing you a further taste of contemporary Ireland as they unveil the latest additions to their food menu. Owners Aaron Wall and Ciarán Smith have teamed up with chef, writer and Waterford native Niamh Shields - a.k.a. Eat Like A Girl - for a new selection of snacks, suppers and brunches inspired by some of the country's most popular comfort eats, and they've got London's first chicken fillet roll firmly on the list.
Let's be clear here: this is not the delicacy you pick up from the Spar deli counter. Giving the classic sandwich something of a glow-up, Homeboy's iteration features juicy buttermilk fried chicken and Korean chilli mayo squished into a white roll for the ultimate food pairing for your (third or fourth) cocktail. The team have also tackled Taco Fries, giving them an Islington-appropriate makeover with black pudding ragu and a chipotle taco sauce.
And there's more still as Shields has put together an entire brunch and dinner range that includes everything from a full Irish and boxty, to curry chip poutine and potato skins loaded up with sour cream, chives and her own bacon jam.
You can grab yourself a chicken fillet roll from Sunday the 22nd of September at Homeboy, 108 Essex Road, Islington, N1 8LX.
