The reviews are in, and this one's a HIT.
Anyone I know who has seen the acclaimed Mrs Doubtfire musical has had nothing but good things to say. Making its London debut at the Shaftesbury Theatre in 2023, it adapted Robin Williams' much-loved movie into a musical success. Now, one of the city's best Indian restaurants - and winner of the UK's Best Asian Restaurant at the Asian Curry Awards - Colonel Saab has launched a menu celebrating the show that takes place moments away.
What We Thought Of The Mrs Doubtfire Experience
Adorned with shiny artefacts and century-old antiques, the Holborn restaurant is quite a sight. Diners can choose between a £35 set lunch or a £60 experience that includes a colour-changing gin cocktail and five courses. Forget what you know about gimmicky themes, because this menu offers the chance to taste authentic Indian dishes such as the Doubt Everything Khubani Aloo Tikki Chaat and Poppet's Paneer Pakeezah; names which tie into Chachi 420; the famous Bollywood remake of Mrs Doubtfire.
On our pre-theatre visit, the Effortless Elegance Prawn Moilee was easily a highlight, with delicate prawns enhanced by a lightly spiced coconut curry. But it wasn't only the food that drew applause; the staff were so attentive and even went as far as to provide some Doubtfire-themed surprises (which we won't spoil for you). And if dessert in the form of a Drive-By Fruit-Ing ice cream wasn't enough to finish on? Two and a half hours of belly laughs as Gabriel Vick wowed the theatre with his performance of the titular character surely did it.
The Mrs Doubtfire Experience is now available to book at Colonel Saab. Choose between the five-course menu with a cocktail for £60 or a two-course set lunch for £35. Sign up to our newsletter for all the latest news.
