Just when we thought Sir David Attenborough couldn't possibly do any more for us… He announces The Green Planet AR Experience, powered by EE 5G. Ideally located at 55 Regent Street in Central London, this augmented reality activity takes you on an immersive journey through six digitally enhanced secret worlds, accompanied by the legend himself in holographic form. Even better? It’s free.
You’ll be handed a smartphone gadget which then becomes your new set of eyes, offering you a window into the kingdom of plants. For 40 to 60 minutes, Attenborough will take you through rainforest, desert, saltwater and freshwater landscapes, as well as seasonal and human biomes. He will suggest where to point your device, helping you discover wonders like the giant Amazon water lily and the Mexican saguaro cactus, and just how important they are to local biodiversity.
You may be thinking, plants? That’s not cool. But just wait - if you’ve yet to watch the documentary The Green Planet (which this is inspired by), turn that TV on right now. The famous broadcaster travels the world to show us how nature has evolved to thrive in all kinds of environments. The result is an awe-inspiring presentation of weird and wonderful vegetation, including one that looks and smells like meat to trap insects. So, we're expecting something just as breathtaking as the programme, but in the form of a magical, immersive experience.
The Green Planet AR Experience can be found at 55 Regent Street, W1B 4DY from 11th February to 9th March 2022. On the lookout for more immersive experiences in London? Check out our to the very best guide here.
