With food halls popping up all over London, it was only a matter of time before Greenwich got some skin in the game. And boy was it worth the wait. Opening this September, Design District Canteen is a stunning space, created by a world-renowned architectural team, that'll house an eco-friendly bar, six independent food vendors and a gorgeous tree canopy for diners to relax under.
Expect a range of global eats in the form of Malaysian delicacies from Eat Lah, Eastern Mediterranean stews and mezze from Ehla, Venezualan arepas from Guasa and Kolkata kati rolls from Raastawala. Italian dons SUGO - named one of London's best street food vendors - will also be setting up shop in the striking structure, while Toasted will be providing gourmet sandwiches for those of you in need of a lunchtime pick-me-up, loaded with the likes of Cornish lobster and treacle-cured bacon. Swoon.
To wash it all down? The Canteen Bar will be pouring up a selection of wines alongside bottled and draught beers sourced from nearby breweries. It'll also be one of the world's first spots to use an EcoSpirits range in its cocktail menu, meaning that for every Portobello Road Gin you buy, you'll help reforestation efforts and will save up to 150g of carbon emissions.
Design District Canteen is opening this September and is located at 7 Soames Walk, Greenwich Peninsula, SE10 0AX. Food is served from 11:30am until late everyday. If you like this, check out our local guide to Greenwich here.
