Diu Review Soho London Club

DIU

27-29 Endell Street, Covent Garden, London WC2H 9BA

DIU is a small, underground members bar/club in the heart of Soho. Don't be put off by the tag members bar as you can get in if you aren't - simply email them and get your name on the guest list. The gold leaf incrusted doorway is a sign of things to come in terms of decor. DIU has paid attention to creating something a bit different, a bit quirky. As you descend the stairs, you are surrounded by faux aged wood paneling on the walls, contrasting against the neon touches here and there. DIU's main bar area is also the main dance area, with banquettes and seats surrounding it. There are other nooks and crannies to explore around the bar area. The ceilings are low and there is the real sense of being "in the know". It's not a place that is going to blow your mind but unlike many other members clubs, this place does have character and seems a lot less pretentious than many of its rivals. This is reflected in the drinks, with a Cuba Libre setting you back £8 - which is very reasonable compared to other members bars in London. The staff are quick and friendly and know they are there to ensure you have a good time. The music in DIU is commercial, commercial house. We managed to nab a private room, which is just off the main bar area and is filled, floor to ceiling with neon strips and the music piped in through private speakers - a great room for a party of 20-40 people I'd suggest. Overall, I would recommend this place if you want an intimate, straight, boutique clubbing experience in the heart of Soho (although I have been informed that the Gay Night on Thursday is also one not to be missed!).
