But this 4th July, it’s time to big up that American adoration: find your nearest eagle, don your stretchiest burger-eating pants and let’s talk about freedom baby, because there’s nothing more free than free food.
The first 100 people who bleed red, white and blue can head to Balthazar in Covent Garden dressed like the American flag – that’s the stars and stripes one – and receive a free meal from the New York-style brasserie. They’ll be offered the Independence Day set menu, getting to choose between their signature macaroni and cheese, Balthazar burger and fries, or the freedom-loving Independence Day-Dog. The meal finishes with a delicious apple pie and washed down with a long julep or old fashioned made with Maker’s Mark bourbon. Or if you'd rather not, you can always get the same meal for £25. Whiskey, burgers, stars and stripes: now that’s what I call 'MERICA.
