Fancy a pint with Paul McCartney?
Something peculiar happened on Sunday afternoon, turning the universe as we have come to know it on its head. Paul McCartney, the ex-Beatle heralded by Guinness World Records as the 'most successful composer and recording artist of all time', launched his first studio album in six years in a rather unprecedented way - 208 pubs across the country were given the first exclusive play of New, a day before its official release in the UK.
Organised by EMI, McCartney's record company, it was hoped that this innovate alternative to the traditional album launch party or exclusive radio air play would allow the album to be enjoyed alongside a Sunday lunch - a whole new take on experiential marketing. Special collectable Paul McCartney beer mats were also created for the occasion.
What lesson should we learn from this? For one, you should probably get back to the pub. As one of many events hosted at pubs across London, you'd be plain old silly to miss out on other events like this.
