The nightlife industry injected over £136 billion into the UK in 2022, had over 89,000 active businesses in 2023, and contributed over 4.1% to the economy in the same year. Creating over 1 million jobs, and attracting millions of tourists per year, the nighttime industry has a critical role to play in the running of our country.
The Night Time Industries Association (NTIA) is here to help elevate and support the sector, with CEO Michael Kill at the helm. Formed with the support of key players in the bar, club, restaurant, pub, festival and live music scene, the NTIA gives a voice to the night-time industry and ensures that its success stories are heard on both a local and national level, conducting regular reports, and sharing diverse voices.
A key role taken on by the NTIA is to debunk the mythical term that is “anti-social behaviour”, something they do by studying crime figures and shifting the focus instead on the huge plus points that the UK’s fifth largest sector brings to the table. The group lobbies policy-makers in Westminster, and consulted on the recent Report for the Mayor's Office for London, to back setting up the Music Development Board - an organisation created to support the interests of London’s famous live music scene. The NTIA is a strong advocate for the position of Night Time Economy Champion, to promote all of the Night Time Industries and benefits for all.
We at DesignMyNight, from the top of the company, support the actions and goals of the NTIA and urge the public to get behind any initiatives to ensure that the importance of the nightlife industry is placed at the heart of local and national policy decisions.
