A lot of the DesignMyNight team live in London, so when a new city ranking comes out, and London makes it to the top three, we've got thoughts. Pretty happy ones.
In 2024, we stated that London was voted the best city in the world for a night out, and this new 2025 study is giving the major city, yet another accolade.
Advisory firm Oxford Economics uses a hardy blend of economic, environmental, political, and cultural factors to create what they call a 'Global City Index'.
Ranking an impressive 1000 global cities, Oxford Economics used its data, metrics and analysis to mark each city out of 100. London? It earned an impressive 98.5, coming second to New York. It has been in the top 10 cities, two years in a row.
Oxford Economics praised the 'multifaceted nature' of the city, and cited it as a true global leader in driving world economy, supported by its financial hubs, and multiple universities.
While London came 144th for quality of life, and only 66th for environment (which still isn't too bad out of 1000), it came first as a human capital, and 8th for economics.
Think London can beat New York in the 2026 index?
