Bar Elba is launching its very first rooftop ice rink. Famed for being one Waterloo's most desired destinations, the unique venture themes itself around the Mediterranean island of Elba where Napoleon fled to for 300 days. Now, it's going one step further with its festive antics, and transforming from a tropical paradise into a winter hideaway of twinkling fairy lights, soft furnishings and quirky yuletide activities such as ice skating and curling.
When you're not whizzing around the rink, you can escape the chill with mulled wine, hot mugs of gin and cosy blankets to wrap up in and admire the views of London’s iconic skyline from the South Bank to the Shard. If you’re in the mood for something more substantial, you can snuggle up and share a hot urn of pink or blood orange Beefeater gin cocktails and a menu of gravy-soaked goodies from Dip & Flip.
There's also good news for those of you seeking love this cuffing season. Entry to the ice rink is free in November, with the option to try your hand at curling like a winter Olympian, making for a fun (and affordable) date night in the sky.
Ice skating at Bar Elba is free during November and then prices to skate may vary during busier festive periods. You can find the bar at 109-117 Waterloo Road, London SE1 8UL, and it’s open Sunday-Wednesday, 4pm-12am and Thursday-Saturday, 4pm-1am. The ice rink will be available to use from 4pm everyday until the end of February.
