London's first every super yacht hotel Sunborn London arrived at the Thames Estuary on the 1st April, with plans of a soft launch from the 7th of April. The hotel will not be open to the paying public until May 9th however.
Undergoing a full interior refurbishment before being moved to a permanent home at the Royal Victoria Docks, the floating hotel is being run by ISS Facility Services Hotel Division London, who'll be in charge of everything from catering, sales, marketing, events and even the day-to-day running of the hotel.
Now time for some pretty impressive facts: Sunborn London is 120m long, boasts 138 spacious bedrooms and suites over five decks. Each room has free wifi, a Samsung tablet, flat screen TV with British, European and American sockets. If that's not enough, the yacht also holds a bar, an auditorium, conference rooms, a state-of-the-art gym, a sauna, treatment rooms and even private terraces.
The main restaurant seats up to 80 people, with panoramic views of its surroundings. Specialising in modern European cuisine with a buffet-style breakfast and lunch and an à la carte dinner menu. The restaurant is being run by Robert Prendergast, who has previously worked for InterContinental Park Lane and Guoman Victoria.
The arrival of Sunborn is expected to bring more business to the East Docklands area, with ISS working with East London Business Alliance recruiting more than 50 percent of staff for the super yacht. With a range of opportunities on offer, most of the staff are from the local area with ISS being one of the first in the area to be on the London Living Wage.
