Lots on this month including a new Las Vegas style club launched in London and bad news for London's price conscious drinkers as the budget is announced by George Osborne.
Well its been an interesting month one might say. With day light saving and the recent spring time weather in London, the days of alfresco street side drinking are upon us and doesnt London look glorious for it! This feel-good factor has been slightly tempered by the recent budget announcements.
Being the first price comparison site in London for drinking, we were obviously gripped by the Chancellors 2011 budget that was announced last week. The drinks industry is always highly influenced by the taxes imposed and we very concerned for you, our users, in what the impact would be across London, with the rise of drinks prices anticipated due to potential taxes. Well good old George Osborne didnt hold back, alcohol taxes did indeed rise, therefore the price of a pint increases by 4p and a bottle of Wine by 15p. Unfortunately for you Londoners, this probably means even higher prices so we will be keeping our eye out on drinks prices for you across all our pubs, bars and clubs. In the mean time keep using www.designmynight.com to find fantastic drinks vouchers and great places for your London adventures.
designmynight.com is the perfect tool to fight the beer price increase.
With the weather getting much more pleasant and the evenings lighter, you are probably on the hunt for some perfect London beer gardens. Of course we have been on the case so you can check out our favourites here.
There are a couple of exciting new developments in the London nightlife scene. Those of you disappointed with the closure of the nightclub Matter may have been concerned of the death of super clubs in London but fear not. Taking over the old site and bringing some real raw edge to the O2 is the owners of Proud Galleries in Camden. They have just launched the fantastic new Proud2 nightclub which is a Las Vegas style super club with burlesque dancers, artists and performers, alongside top name DJs and bands each weekend. We are delighted with this and think its a much needed shot in the arm to the London night club scene.
A touch of Las Vegas is coming to London via Proud2 at the O2.
Another eagerly anticipated new London venue is the Worship Street Whistling Shop in Shoreditch from the creators of Purl bar fame. This is a 19th century British inspired Gin Palace drinking den that will be serving up expertly crafted Gin based cocktails. It opens on April 28th 2011 and we cant wait to get there.
An exciting month lies ahead what with the bank holiday and Easter break which brings some fantastic London Easter clubbing opportunities and in case you havent heard, there is some wedding going on. We have put together some Royal Wedding ideas so check them out.
