Piste at Archer Street, 3-4 Archer Street, Soho, London, W1D 7AP.
As winter approaches Londoners are rapidly searching for the best basement bars to help stave off the cold; well here is another quality subterranean venue to add to the list, Piste in Soho. Piste is the basement bar of cool Soho cocktail lounge Archer Street. Styled as an apres-ski destination, as you can probably tell by the name (Piste is a word for a ski-run), Piste is all wood flooring and beamed ceilings adding an air of Alpine authenticity to this Soho basement bar.
Piste is London's newest Alpine-themed bar, a growing trend in the capital.
With sofas, lounge chairs and booth seating around the bar, Piste has a rather relaxed club feel to it; coupled with low lighting and welcoming decor. Expect to see some cool features such as antique skis and snowshoes on the walls to get visitors into the apres-ski mood. Archer Street have also created some speciality cocktails to coincide with the launch of Piste; the 'Apricot and Cinnamon Bellini' in particular is spiced and fruity (and decidedly festive), and they even have some shots being served on retro skis to further heighten the Alpine theme.
Piste looks great for some after work drinks or catching up with friends; you'll have to splash the cash a little in this Soho bar, but on the upside, you get all the luxury and style of the pretentious members venues without all the pomp and needless circumstance that comes with them. Piste is relaxed and trendy and has a charm that has already made Archer Street such a wild success in Soho. Look out for this little basement beauty, it'll be the talk of the town pretty soon.
