With its bright lights and unstoppable pace, Tokyo is a city that never fails to capture the imagination, and one Hackney spot is bringing Londoners a little taste of its magic this April. Multipurpose venue Proud East is opening Pop Up Japan on 6th April with the aim of combining the modern and mad city life of Tokyo with centuries-old Japanese traditions. Located right next to the canal, the scenic restaurant and bar will be teaming up with legendary street food connoisseurs Tonkotsu, who will be cooking their delicious ramen, as well as a selection of gyoza and crab korokke.
Along with a flavour of Asia, the pop up will also be bringing a huge variety of arts and culture to East London; learn to make Japanese delicacies such as sushi and sashimi at one of the cooking classes, catch a Japanese movie, drink some sake and get involved with the comedy and games. The organisers are also planning on transforming the space with a mix of neon signs and traditional lanterns, transporting you away from East London all the way to Asia.
Pop Up Japan is taking place at Proud East, 2-10 Hertford Road, London, N1 5ET, from 6th April.
