There is nothing on this earth more British than an afternoon tea, to the point where not even the Queen or crippling passive-aggression quite matches up to it. But just because it’s a classic, that doesn’t mean it can’t be improved. With cheese. Lots and lots of cheese.
So thank you to the Pimlico Pantry at fancy hotel Georgian House, who are hosting a cheese afternoon tea from Saturday 22nd July until Sunday 30th July. Prepare yourself for a whole range of dairy goodness from a range of regional suppliers, including Little Sussex cheese, Ashdown Foresters Smoked Cheddar Welsh rarebit, and cute ‘nduja (that’s a real thing) & roasted pepper sandwiches. But the Victorian noblewoman-esque cheese spread doesn’t stop there: finish off with some ricotta with whisky apricots and L’Ubriaco basajo (a blue cheese made from raw sheep’s milk and white wine) with currants and oat biscuits. Who needs a summer bod anyway?
The cheese afternoon tea costs £35pp and is available at Pimlico Pantry in Georgian House from 22nd July until 30th July.
