Winter is very much upon us and this calls for two things: ice skating and storing foods ready for hibernation. Enter the Q on Ice Restaurant perched overlooking the idyllic ice rink at Canary Wharf.
Home to London's largest outdoor skating spec, Canary Wharf hosts the only skate path that leads its festive frolickers through the fairy-lit trees and foliage for a truly picturesque ice skating experience. Charming, eh. Who needs an Alpine getaway when you have an off-piste style ice skating retreat right in the heart of London? Topping this lovely little scene off is the restaurant, inspired by Des McDonald's Camden Q Grill, it's poised and ready to provide refuge for the soggy skater, worn out parents or fumbling couples. Step inside the pop-up parlour and discover a realm of rich wooden surfaces, ski-lodge stylings and cosy comforts in the form of Christmas inspired cocktails and BBQ foods fresh from the grill.
There'll be plenty of hot toddies, chocolates, wine and cider in this hub of winter warming excess; so soak up those salivatingly good BBQ fumes and dry off those wet socks whilst supping on a Christmassy spiced libation. Ooft, sounds just splendid doesn't it?
Q on Ice is open from 1st November until 28th February 2015, 7 days a week.
