Kickstarter has come up trumps once again as a sandwich festival has reached its funding goal. Taking place in East London (obviously), Sandwich Fest will be a day of gourmet subs from eight of London's best sarnie makers. Expect the likes of Sub Cult, a street-food outfit known for its Michelin star chef collaborations; Deeney's, the home of the haggis toastie; and Project Sandwich.
Founded by Daniel Bell, the festival promises more than your average egg and cress sarnie with loaded goodies such as American-style subs, Vietnamese Banh Mi and ice cream sandwiches for dessert. With Brits eating 11.5 billion sandwiches per year, it's no surprise that the kickstarter easily reached its funding goal, especially when rewards include having a sandwich named after you, and a chance to be on the judging panel. Along with enough bready-goodness to put much of East London in a carb coma, there will also be craft beer and live music playing throughout the day.
Sandwich Fest will take place on Saturday 20 May 2017 in East London.
