Kanpai has always been a hidden gem. The UK’s first sake brewery, and a local favourite, can be found tucked away in Peckham. Its mission? To get residents swooning over home-brewed sake, and start a secret South London drinking revolution.
Now it's time for the rest of us to get a look-in.
Made just yards from the taproom, Kanpai’s own sake is a small batch craft creation, and the product of a honed-in technique and unique style… it’s even won them a couple of awards. Pair that with their menu of ramen and Japanese snacks, and you've got the whole shebang.
Inspired by the owners Tom and Lucy's first trip to Japan, Kanpai takes its title from the Japanese equivalent to saying cheers, and pretty much translates as "dry your cup", so follow suit when you sample their handpicked selection of guest creations, craft spirits, cocktails and signature blend.
Sorry Peckham, your secret is no more.
