Café de Paris is a club favoured by anyone in the know. The lavish nightspot plays host to The Wam Bam Club every Saturday night, a cabaret show with a rotating line-up. Having heard so much about it, we decided to put on our finest glad rags and check out the decadent show.
The Venue
The classy Café de Paris is the perfect venue to host such a grand evening. Walking in to an underground club the walls are decked out in velvet, 1920’s style chandeliers hang from the ceilings and a concierge is on hand to collect your jackets on entry. We were also welcomed with chocolate and the opportunity to take a photo with one of the performers from the show, a nice touch.
The Atmosphere and Clientele
Having looked at most of the surrounding tables, the evening seemed to be based largely around hen parties and couples looking for a different night out. The stylish venue means that The Wam Bam Club is generally kept to people who are celebrating a special occasion. We were led to the downstairs club, where the rest of the diners sat. The atmosphere was light-hearted and fun, exactly what you would expect from a cabaret show featuring over-the-top drag-queens, half naked men bulging with muscles and beautiful burlesque dancers!
The Food and Drinks
Upon arrival we were presented with a glass of champagne, a perfect way to start the evening. Our three course meal was swiftly brought out, meaning we could enjoy the show without being distracted. Pleasing to all tastes, the menu offered different options for all courses, including a stunning Foie Gras parfait for starter and a deeply dark chocolate brownie with pistachio ice cream for dessert. We also had a delicious bottle of white wine to wash down our meals, which was a lovely compliment to the food. Plus with an extensive cocktail menu to choose from, there’s even more opportunity to wet your whistle whilst the performers are on stage.
Summary
Not for the faint-hearted, The Wam Bam Club is something everyone should see at some stage. With an ideal central location in a well-known West End club, The Wam Bam cabaret show is an evening full of slap-stick humour, sexual innuendos and tasteful nudity. Although a bit on the expensive side, this night out is definitely one to invest in for your next special night out - book your spot at The Wam Bam Club now.
