Tinie Tempah? Oh, he only just went and developed his own fried chicken brand. Aptly titled RAPS (which serves wraps, named after rappers), this poultry pop-up will take over the kitchen at Willow on The Roof from March for four delicious months. Winner winner, chicken dinner?
Inspired by nostalgia and hip hop, the chart-topping rapper decided to create a soul food-focused menu in collaboration with ex-Sardine (and YouTube celeb) chef Big Has. They've knocked together a drool-worthy selection of elevated chicken shop classics, spanning wings, tenders, salads and desserts, plus a couple of vegan options too. But of course, there's a big focus on wraps; we just can’t wait to get our hungry chops around the African giant, which is made of buttermilk fried breast, jollof salsa, fried plantain, salad and mayo. And don’t get us started on the piri piri fries topped with smoked nacho cheese, sour cream and chilli…
For those that would rather tuck in at home, you’re in luck. Thanks to a partnership with Kitchen Ventures, a food tech start-up that boasts a network of delivery kitchens across the city, the residency will be filling the tums of Brixton, Peckham, Hackney, Shoreditch, Finsbury Park and many, many more with all kinds of tasty eats.
Find RAPS at Willow on The Roof, John Lewis, 300 Oxford Street, W1C 1DX from the 11th of March for four months. Has that got your stomach rumbling? Discover more of the best chicken restaurants in London here.
