Our city has no shortage of winter pop-ups, so it can be hard to find one that really stands out. However, Vinegar Yard has definitely asserted itself as a quirky place to be, with its festive flea markets, ample food options and a beaut bar space to hide away in.
Perched in the heart of the marketplace, Abigail’s is a real blast from the past. Made up of earth tones, lava lamp projections, retro furniture and plenty of foliage, this central bar space is a perfect retreat from the cold outside. Start your dining adventure here by sipping a classic mulled wine or winter cocktail before having a ramble through the food stalls downstairs.
Guests are certainly spoiled for choice, from Baba G’s Indian burgers to Sugo’s luscious arancini... it is darn hard to choose. A personal fave? Nanny Bills and their vegan cheesy, faux bacon and pineapple-topped quinoa burger which is just one big, sloppy delight. Wash it down with a Jameson and elderflower from the bar, and enjoy under the heater while wrapped up in a blanket. If you happen to be visiting on a weekend, make sure to check out the flea market where you can browse vintage garms, records and plenty more unique finds.
Vinegar Yard can be found at 72-82 St Thomas St, London SE1 3QU. Opening hours are Monday to Friday midday – 10pm and Saturday & Sunday 11am – 10pm for the outside area, meanwhile the inside area (including Abigail's) is open daily from midday – 10:30pm.
