If you’re done binge-watching the latest season of Emily In Paris and going through withdrawals, we’ve got some great news courtesy of your favourite heartthrob. Sorry Gabriel. Lucien Laviscount, who plays Alfie from the Netflix hit, has opened a brand-spanking new bar in Kensal Rise called The Wealthy Beggar. And guess what? It’s just as slick as his character.
Decked out with graffiti, crystal chandeliers and dimly lit candles, the venue oozes speakeasy vibes. The swanky joint is also flaunting live music every Wednesday, alongside banging weekend bashes and quirky quiz nights.
Teaming up with chef Gareth Drew, who has cooked for the likes of Nobu and Buddha Bar, the venue slings out fancy eats including fresh sashimi, wagyu tartare and other light nibbles. Or sink your teeth into innovative Pan-Asian tapas – think cheeseburger dumplings paired with kimchi ketchup. As for drinks, cocktails range from a classic Tommy’s margarita to bespoke concoctions such as the Velvet Hand – a blend of pomegranate cordial, sparkling wine and an apple-infused brandy.
A bientôt.
The Wealthy Beggar is open 5pm 'til late from Tuesday to Saturday. Want more options in the area? Check out our guide to the best bars in North London here and sign up to our newsletter to stay up to date with the latest news.
