Anyone who has fallen down the Labubu rabbit hole on TikTok has been watching a new purchase craze sweep the nation. Tiny, fuzzy, somewhat adorable character keychains have become the 'it' item. With blind boxes offering consumers the chance to get secret characters and grow their collectable army. London shops are being overrun with people looking to buy their own Labubu, or grow their personal collection, with queues seen down and around the streets for miles.
What is a Labubu?
A Labubu is an elf-like character that featured in The Monsters books. Inspired by Nordic mythology The Monsters books were written by Hong Kong designer Kasing Lung. The Labubu character has been transformed in to physical and collectible figurines, featuring their iconic tails, serrated teeth and big bulging eyes.
