It can be hard to know how to keep the whole family entertained during the school holidays, and sometimes you just need to get out of the house. Luckily, there are so many great, kid-friendly activities to try out across the city, with something to suit all ages and budgets.

We've rounded up the very best spots to make a beeline for while school's off, from crazy golf courses to cooking masterclasses and even Disney-themed events. So when boredom strikes, check out these fun things to do in London this half term.

The Big Bakes

Looking for a fun and hands-on activity this half term? Challenge your friends or family to the ultimate baking showdown at The Big London Bake East or South. This award-winning experience takes place in a stunning marquee with a cake-themed bar, hospitality suite, and beautiful drinks deck - creating the perfect atmosphere to get your bake on.

You and your baking buddy will have 90 minutes to bake, decorate, and compete for the title of the ultimate baking champion. With all the ingredients provided and a head baker by your side, you'll be guided through each step. Plus, there's a new, exciting theme every month to keep things fresh and fun.

Plonk Golf - Borough Market

With two locations in Borough Market and Hackney, Plonk is a kid-friendly crazy golf experience that also happens to be one of the most affordable, with tickets starting from as little as £5. Their nine-hole courses feature all kinds of quirky obstacles, from sharks' heads to snakes and tidal waves.

Both venues also offer pool tables and an arcade, complete with fun games like  pinballs, shooters, and Mario Kart 2. There are even board games to keep the whole family entertained for hours, and there's a well-stocked bar providing both cocktails and soft drinks.

Kids Disney Brunch Club

Every single Sunday, the Kids Disney Brunch Club takes place at BAM Karaoke Box in Victoria. This includes Disney-themed entertainment and games, with live music and actors dressed as all your favourite characters, and kids can get their faces painted in one of the karaoke rooms.

Tickets cost £39 per child (with free entry for adults), including a main course with potato tots and a soft drink. They'll also leave with a Disney branded goodie bag, and you can stick around for 90 minutes of private karaoke to follow.

F1® Arcade - St Paul's, London

A gaming experience like no other, the F1® Arcade is a cool activity bar in St Paul's. Under 18s are welcome before 6pm, and anyone over seven years old can take part in their driving simulations, so it promises fun for all the family. There are 69 cutting-edge simulators on-site, giving you the chance to race around global tracks like you're a real Formula One driver.

You'll be totally immersed through their full-motion and audio-visual effects, with different skill levels to suit all ages. After all that excitement, head to the bar and refuel on buttermilk chicken burgers, wild miso mushroom tacos or triple pepperoni flatbreads.

Whiskers & Cream

Been trying to find things to do this half term in London for families? Then why not check out the adorable Whiskers & Cream, a cat cafe found close to Archway tube station in North London. This is one of the few venues of its kind to allow young children, though under 11s must be pre-booked over the phone or in person.

There are 10 gorgeous rescue cats at this cafe, who love to play and cuddle. Book a 90 minute session for £18 per head, or £15 for kids, and be sure to check out the tasty food and drink available. Think hot chocolate, sandwiches, cakes and even afternoon tea.

Babylon Park

One of the best indoor half term activities in London, Babylon Park is a haven of entertainment in Camden. This is the first ever underground theme park in the city, boasting its very own indoor roller coaster, promising hours of fun for both kids and adults. There are multiple rides on offer, from bumper cars to carousels and even VR experiences.

You can also expect all the classic fairground games, such as basketball machines, ring toss and air hockey. You can enter the park for free and pay as you go, or they offer unlimited gaming ticket, starting from as little as £18.75 for the hour. While you're here, check out the tasty food on offer, from pizzas to candy floss.

Sticks'n'Sushi - Kids Masterclass

With venues everywhere from Chelsea to Islington and Greenwich, there's bound to be a Sticks'n'Sushi near you. These popular Danish-Japanese restaurants offer kids masterclasses on a monthly basis, with several on offer during the half term. These sessions are suitable for ages eight to 12, teaching them how to create delicious sushi bites.

The expert chefs will talk your little ones through the process of making kappa hosomaki rolls, Pink Alaska uramaki rolls and shake nigiri, which they'll get to enjoy afterwards, alongside a chocolate fish. Tickets cost £40 each, including a goodie bag that includes a certificate, their bandana, a rolling mat, chopsticks and a Japanese number and phrase sheet.

Biscuiteers: Various Sites

Two charming cafes in Notting Hill and Belgravia, Biscuiteers host a regular lineup of icing classes, including kid-friendly specials during the school holidays. You'll be given a selection of biscuits to ice, as well as a tutorial from one of their in-store experts on how to create the prettiest designs.

Each session has its own unique theme, from Paddington bear to ice lollies or puppies. The half term sessions cost £55 each, including a hot chocolate or ice cream during the event, and every child will leave with a Biscuiteers gift box to take home.

Sixes London Bridge

Looking for a half-term activity that hits the sweet spot between fun and fresh air-free? Sixes London Bridge, Fulham and Fitzrovia is your answer. Their cricket simulators cater to kids, teens, and adults alike - no experience needed - and the friendly vibe makes it ideal for families.

Grab a post-game bite or enjoy a mocktail at the bar while the kids swing away. It's sporty, social, and just the right side of screen-free.

Foot Golf

Want to get out and about during the school holidays? Then make your way to Golf Kingdom in Chadwell Heath, where they offer a bespoke Foot Golf course, one of the first in the UK. Expect 18 holes of football fun, across purpose-built synthetic tees and greens.

They'll supply all the balls you need, so just bring your skills. Plus, they've got an adventure golf course here as well.

Putt in the Park: Battersea Park

One of the best London half term activities has got to be Putt in the Park, a great way to get your kids to enjoy the great outdoors. The Battersea Park location features a 12-hole mini golf course that's open in all weathers, expertly designed to accommodate for all ages and abilities.

The course fronts unique displays of rocks and waterfalls, acting as obstacles for you to work your way around. This costs £14 for adults and £11 for children, though families of four can play for £46 in total. After your game, head to the cafe for coffees or authentic Neapolitan pizzas cooked by Italian chefs.

London Parks Where You Can See Animals

After free things to do this half term in London? Then why not visit one of London's many parks that are home to animals? When you don't fancy forking out to visit the zoo, these open spaces will give your little ones the chance to get up close and personal with a wide variety of species.

Whether you're in Clissold Park, Kensington Gardens, Richmond Park or beyond, there's plenty to discover in the city. Think wild deer, alpacas or parakeets, as well as the chance to catch a glimpse at the giraffes in London Zoo for free.
