As the long, hot summer draws to an eventual close, Londoners across the capital are weeping into their sun hats. How are we supposed to keep ourselves occupied during the sorry month that is September, I hear you say. Well you needn't worry - our friends over at Baileys are on hand to help us embrace the ultimate cold-weather comfort with their latest pop-up, Bar Chocolat.
Designed as an immersive, multi-sensory event to showcase the pleasure and power of chocolate, Bar Chocolat will double up as the official launch of their new liquid Baileys Chocolat Luxe, an innovative fusion of Belgian chocolate and alcohol to create a drinking experience like no other.
Bar Chocolat sees handpicked visionaries Bompas & Parr, Tabitha Denholm, Petra Storrs, Amelia Rope, Lou Hayter and Blanch & Shock, pooling their talent to take visitors on a sweet tasting journey through sensory delight, designed to demonstrate and ultimately champion the overwhelming power of chocolate. Artisan chocolatier Amelia Rope has created a large-scale edible art installation for the event, whilst music director Tabitha Denholm's first-ever video installation will also feature, as well as a musical score from pop ingénue Lou Hayter. Petra Storrs, the stylist famed for the stained glass dress work by Lady Gaga, has created an elaborately staged bar space designed to pay homage to the drinking experience, adding the experience of theatre to the first sip of Bompas & Parr's Baileys Chocolat Luxe Rococo Serve.
The centre piece however, will be a series of ticketed events to a tasty looking fusion of theatre and innovative cuisine, presented by design extraordinaires Blanch & Shock in the form of a three course supperclub served directly onto tables.
Bar Chocolat is open from 11-16th September 2013. Entry is free with prior registration. Meals are priced at £17.50 for lunch and £25 for dinner with drinks included.
