Something wonderfully malt-y has been bubbling away in Brixton over the last few months. Wednesday 16th October saw the launch of the much awaited Brixton Brewery, showcasing three deliciously local and independently brewed beers, infused with the very spirit and character of Brixton.
In case you missed out on the launch, or weren't able to make it out on a school night (poor excuse), then you're in luck. Brixton Brewery is opening its doors on Saturday 19th October, inviting their friends along to meet the team and see the brewery at work.
Brixton Brewery invites you to sample their three blends, each of which has been designed with our favourite South London hang out in mind: first up, Electric. Taking inspiration from Electric Avenue, the beating heart of Brixton and made with New World hops, Electric is a full-bodied IPA that balances malty sweetness and happy bitterness with an energetic hit of floral-citrus fruit. Next up: Effra. Taking its namesake from the Effra River that beneath the ever-bustling streets of Brixton, this is a smooth amber ale that balances pine, lime and grassy hops. Last but by no means least, guests are invited to try Reliance, a light and interesting pale ale, brewed in homage to the 1920s market arcade where local cobblers and tailors still practice their craft today.
If it just so happens that you get a bit of a taste for these fine blends, then you'll be pleased to know that you can now take the bottles home with you, to enjoy wherever and whenever you see fit. Brixton Brewery beers are available for purchase at Cannon & Cannon, Market Row Wines and Cornercopia, and can be enjoyed with a meal at Sean's Bar @ Rosie's, French & Grace, The Lido Cafe and Senzala Creperie.
Brixton Brewery Open Day is held at Arch 547 on Brixton Station Road between 12pm-8pm on Saturday 19th October.
