Feel like you’re on holiday this year at Cambalache "One Night in Argentina" (or two if you go both nights). This event promises to evoke all the great food and drink elements of Argentina whilst firmly rooted in the heart of London’s East End. Experience wines of the country, and have them expertly paired with traditional music in order to bring out the flavour and invoke all the senses. Or have a go at making your own chimichurri, the favourite Argentinian sauce.
Feast on Patagonian lamb, empanadas and asado (traditional barbecue) or head back to 1940's Buenos Aires at Gaucho’s Galante Cocktail Lounge. Try the dulce de leche ice cream at Ice Cream Union or experience more than twenty-seven tantalising taste and smell sensations at the Fernet Branca aperitif masterclass.
If you’re after a good time then you’ll love the street party, featuring graffiti artists painting vibrant murals that came about during the last economic crisis. It was this artwork that helped create a sense of community. Watch and learn the Nuevo Tango with leading dancers at the Buenos Aires nightclub or head over to the Bohemian café to learn about Argentina’s rich literary history with talks on the celebrated writer Jorge Luis Borges. If all that wasn’t enough, why not brave the crowds at the San Telmo antiques market, complete with live folk band.
30th April and 1st May 2014 from 18:00 to 23:00 at MC Motors, 76 Stoke Newington Road, Dalston, N16 7XB. Tickets are £40, which includes all food and drink.
