What do you get when a deep South diner and hip Shoreditch club pool their resources? A down right dastardly hootananny, that's what! Banding together for a special one day only event, Camden's elusive destination The Blues Kitchen and Shoreditch's renowned XOYO could think of nothing better than a festival bonanza of vintage stalls, kitsch culture and DJ antics this coming September 1st.
Kicking the day off at XOYO with a homage to all things retro, a selection of vintage vendors and vinyl collectors will be at hand for all your shopping needs from noon to 5pm; be that getting your pin curls propped by the dapper damsels at Lipstick & Curls or browsing the vinyl stalls to a soulful beat provided by Raison D’etre and Dustaphonics DJs. But don't worry if all these vintage antics leave your stomach in a rumble, The Blues Kitchen will be on the XOYO rooftop all day long, providing you with tasty morsels of soul food at their Creole barbecue.
So what about when the sun goes down you're wondering? Well, we're rather happy that you asked. Come 5pm, XOYO promise live music and DJ sets galore as The Blues Kitchen Explosion invite the likes of Little Barrie, Huey Morgan and Andrew Weatherhall for a cracking night of Rockabilly sets and soulful slides on the dancefloor. Don't forget to nab some cocktails while you're there too, as The Blues Kitchen will be whipping up a selection of deep South classics such as their Mint Juleps and Sazeracs for just £7.50 a pop.
With free entry to the retro market and tickets just £12.50 when the clock strikes 4pm, The Blues Kitchen Explosion is set to be a dapper day of American classics and retro antics that will no doubt soothe your wayfaring soul.
