At long last, Broadway Market's crowning glory has returned, to quench the thirst of Hackney's hipsters once more. Described by many as "too trendy for its own good", The Cat & Mutton is set to out-cool itself, as it reopens under the ownership of Ruby's proprietor, Tom Gibson.
Gibson plans to restore this classic boozer to its former glory, showcasing its vintage enamel mirrors, dark oak bar and banquet seating; the bar will stock a wide selection of craft ales, beers and high quality spirits, whilst the upstairs room will be transformed into Pearl's, an intimate cocktail bar to serve up one hell of a storm.
They've even enlisted Lucky Chop to handle the menu; the ever-popular Hackney pop-up will serve oysters (fresh or smoked); burnt broccoli, yoghurt, pickled mustard seeds; a pulled pork roll, American cheese, coleslaw; bucket of mutton chops, bean salad, mash, mint sauce; smoked haddock, charred leeks, aioli, toast and rhubarb sorbet with prosecco. Sounds bloody amazing to me!
