What they say:
Effra Social in Brixton is an amazing old social club brought back to life by the pub pioneers behind Dogstar and Balham Bowls Club. From musical bingo to silent cabaret and stand up comedy, their nights out offer a range of quirky fun for the young of Brixton to enjoy any night of the week. With a delightfully modern menu all produced from scratch on site, and based on modern European gastro treats, this is a wonderful refurbished space to hang out in South London.
What we say:
Once a working men's club, Effra Social has kept the shabby chic, 20th century decor and retained a lot of the working men's club vibe. On approach it feels like you are walking into somebodies grand Townhouse in Brixton and then as you wind through the retro rooms you discover a large hall space area with trendy lighting and a stripped back bar serving cheap drinks. Live music on the stage at the weekends get this place rocking but mid-week its a great place for food and drinks. The large beer garden out front will prove popular this summer!
