Description
A charming little pub in the backstreets of Mayfair, The Red Lion is reputed to be London's second oldest pub (300 years old) and much of its quaintness has been retained thanks to its traditional roots.
Quintessentially British, it is a popular haunt amongst many of its locals and especially tourists seeking that "old-timey British pub" feel that this place manages so well. An intimate space, it's divied into two floors, the walls on the first are decorated with china plates whilst a small bar is tucked away in the corner.
Upstairs retains a gentleman's club feel and is more spacious compared to downstairs. The closest boozer to Pall Mall, it's a great stop-off after a day of sightseeing serving as a fantastic repose. One of the stops on the "Monopoly-board pub crawl', Saturdays get very because of this with the place becoming incredibly exuberant and lively.
