Description
Skehans is one of the few remaining independent family-run pubs in South London; it also prides itself on being 'purveyors of craic' as one of the most authentically Irish boozers in the city. Owned by Bryan Fitzsimons from Foynes. Co. Limerick, it's somewhat of a Nunhead legend. Inside you'll find a wood-burning stove, red velvet curtains and eclectic decor in the form of guitars hung to the wall and trinkets scattered about, plus live music six days a week.
The front terrace and back garden are pretty magical too, lined with wooden benches, vibrant flowers and plants - adjoining to the latter is where you'll find Chai's Garden Thai, run by Madam Chai, who's been serving fragrant curries and noodles for over two decades. Fusing traditional Asian food with British pub fare, plates include the likes of chicken satay, dim sum, cashew nut chicken and beef with oyster sauce.
On Sundays, Chico's is in full swing whipping up massive Yorkshire puddings and helpings of fish and chips, then Tuesdays see burger night kick into gear, paired with homemade onion rings for only £6.50. And to drink? You can be sure to find some of the best Guinness going here, alongside fresh pints, spirits and soft drinks.
