What they say:
Inspired by two of Holloway's most famous former residents, Owl and Hitchhiker is mashing nonsensical and science to create a quirky new space. Formerly The Edward Lear, the refurbished pub is borrowing themes from The Owl and Pussycat Poem (by Edward Lear) and The Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy (by Douglas Adams). Expect amazing decor, from carved 'don't panic' signs and hanging owls through to gorgeous wall murals and scientific contraption-like decor. Along with indoor trees and a skylight garden, the space will also feature a secret cocktail bar hidden upstairs.
What we say:
With the aim to bring universal nonsense to Holloway Road, Owl and Hitchhiker has had a complete makeover to reveal an abundance of wacky and interesting features. Inspired by the scientific nature of Adams' work, a wall of repurposed speakers represents space junk, and as both writers were musicians, the new space will have a hot line-up of DJs and live bands. Food comes in the form of vegan-friendly hot dogs, chicken burgers, healthy salads and bar snacks, while drinks lean towards craft beer and real ale options.
