Description
Part of the cask ale revolution in London, The Cock Tavern in Hackney is a London pub for real beer appreciators. The pub itself sits directly above its own brewery that produces unique and exciting beers throughout the year, which has attracted a dedicated following. The building has undergone several revolutions itself and returns to its original glory as The Cock Tavern pub, original being the operative word. As you walk through the doors you'll feel like you've time travelled what with the rock 'n' roll music filling up the dusty air thick with the essence of freshly brewed hops. The furniture is dark and heavy too, quirky as it all may seem there is something undeniably comfortable about it.
When you see just how many cask ales are on tap you'll get a better picture of how seriously the friendly staff here take their beer, encouraging you to try samples of each and talking you through the process. But if ale is not your thing then there is a great selection of spirits behind the bar and lager brewed as close by as Camden. There is a simple bar snack menu too comprising of butties and pork pies, meeting the old school conceptions of the East London boozer. If you're looking for a genuinely cool place to sit and enjoy some great beers in the company of a young and hip clientele then The Cock Tavern is definitely worth stopping by.
