What they say:
While Mexican and Brazilian restaurants may be the norm on the London dining scene, one Southern American country has been overlooked. Venezuelan Arepa & Co has proved so popular in De Beauvoir Town that the husband and wife team behind the space are now opening a second version. Taking over the spot formerly held by Paradise Garage, Arepa & Co will be a delicious addition to Bethnal Green's Paradise Row, with brunch plates, rum-based cocktails and small outdoor terrace for when summer finally shows its face.
What we say:
Gus and Kathe Salguero have drawn on their Venezuelan heritage for Arepa & Co, with a hit formula that has resulted in a sister restaurant opening in one of the buzzy railway arches of Paradise Row. Joining the likes of Mother Kelly and London Cocktail Club, the second venue will also be inspired by other South American countries. Brunch is a big draw, with a menu featuring dishes such as Desayuno Criollo (scrambled eggs, fried plantains and shredded beef) and puff pastries stuffed with all sorts of goodies. Drinks-wise, the cocktail options will be very much rum led, as well as a choice of homemade sodas.
