Banh Banh likes to keep it in the family when it comes to their Vietnamese street food dishes; the brainchild of five siblings, the restaurant uses recipes that were handwritten by their grandmother. The sense of homecooking and comfort has clearly worked, as they prepare to open their second restaurant, this time in Brixton. The new spot will open on Coldharbour Road, in a venue that can host up to 65 diners at any one time, and will feature many of the same aspects that's made them a go-to for South East Asian dining.
What we say:
First opened in Peckham, Banh Banh may only be just more than a year old but it's growing up fast. The second site in Brixton looks set to be just as successful with many of the aspects that first made its name. The menu will be seasonal and will use ingredients sourced from local producers as well as keeping meat free range and of higher welfare. Expect dishes such as the traditional Vietnamese soup, Pho, beef-shin stew, papaya salad and pork skewers, with cocktails, beers and wine to wash it all down.
